BlumSafe’s New Display Shelf for Manual Watches – Nests Seamlessly With Our Winders and Jewelry Drawers
Some new product announcements are bigger than others, like our recent Winder Drawer Insert. But, in fact, a relatively minor accessory could impact more people — our new Display Shelf for Manual Watches.
From time to time over the years, watch collectors have asked if we had a way to display their manual watches in their BlumSafes, both old collectibles and modern ones, other than on one of our Boxy Winders, which took up more room and seemed unnecessary for people with manual winding watch collections. We really didn’t have a dedicated solution – admittedly because it is only in the past several years that I have developed an interest in old manual winds.
The Manual Watch Shelf and its Features. Happily, that absence of a solution changes TODAY, with the introduction of our New Display Shelf for Manual Watches, which securely holds four watches in stationary position on our included watch sponges. Covered with the same pebbled leather finish as our base drawers and slimmer jewelry drawers, these new display shelves stack perfectly with our Boxy winders and drawers, creating an elegant and seamless display in any model Blumsafe. It even has a large “secret compartment” in the back, with a cavity space of 10 7/8 L” x 2 1/8 D” x 3 ¼” H.
With the BlumSafe’s modular design, you can stack any number of these manual watch shelves, winders and/or jewelry drawers, up to the capacity of your BlumSafe, BlumSafe Professional Junior or BlumSafe Professional. And if you have a BlumSafe Secure Display Cabinet, there is virtually no limit to your capacity.
How It Came to Pass. I probably would never have gotten to the point of developing this product, expect for a chance encounter with an old BlumSafe customer and friend, Spencer. We were displaying our latest safes at the Worn and Wound Watch show in New York City in October, and Spencer, an accomplished musician, actor and garage inventor/tinkerer, came over to introduce himself in person (we had spoken before), and excitedly whipped out his phone to show me something he had developed with parts from one of our jewelry drawers. Spencer collects some very cool vintage manual wind watches, and came up with a great way to display them in a BlumSafe.
After some modifications we made, and with Spencer’s permission, The BlumSafe Display Shelf for Manual Watches is a reality. Thanks, Spencer, for the inspiration.
