Why Do You Need the Insert for Drawer-Mounted Winders? The BlumSafe Winder Drawer Insert is like nothing else out there (which is why we filed for a patent on it). Designed to fit easily within a drawer with at least 5 ½” of internal height, it solves the issue we found with winders and automatic watches – a watch’s rotor should be as close to 90 degree (vertical) position as possible to most efficiently  wind the mainspring of an automatic watch.  But if the winder is sitting upright in your draw, say at waist level, it is difficult to peer into your drawer to admire your watches – you would just be looking at the top of the watch winders.  You can try to split the difference and have the winders permanently tilted at a more severe angle, but that is a compromise that serves neither function particularly well.

How The Winder Insert Works. We solved this problem. With our Winder Drawer Insert, when the drawer is closed, the winders sit in winding position at the upright 90 degree angle necessary for optimal winding. When the draw opens, the mechanism lowers the winders to a 60 degree angle, for optimal viewing of your collection. Using a low power magnetic switch (no issue for your watches) to detect drawer opening and closing, a servo is commanded by an integrated circuit to lower and lift the rows of winders with a control arm for a limited angle of travel.

Each Insert includes a wood base that attaches to the side of your watch winder drawer with screws. One or two rows of watch winder boxes are then attached to the base with spring-loaded hinges. These wooden winder boxes house our removable Boxy winders, each with adjustable settings for the number of rotations per day and direction of rotation. Each row of winders is powered and connected to a power adapter via a discreet wire at the bottom that runs out the back of your drawer to your wall outlet.

Configuration Options.
A. For drawers possessing at least 18” of interior depth, our insert is available in 6, 8 and 10 winder arrays (i.e., two rows of 3,4 or 5 winders), using our Boxy winders (over 16,000 sold and happily in use at this writing!), for any drawer of 5 ½” or more internal height.

B. For drawers with at least 11″ of interior depth, our drawer insert is available in a single of 3, 4, 5 or 6 winders.

Each Insert uses beautiful woods to create not only a functional but a beautiful display for your timepieces, each one made to your specifications to match your décor. Choose your number of winders, their color(s), the color of the base plate that sits on the bottom of your drawer (black or maple are standard, but we can use any wood  you want, Contact Us, and the wood or color of the beautiful wood winder cabinets (again, we offer popular options, but can do anything custom – do you have  Zebra wood cabinetry? —we will have you covered).

Assembly.  Assembly is reasonably simple.
